On 14 July 1789, a mob stormed the medieval fortress in Paris, the Bastille prison and released. Although at the time, jail seven prisoners (four forgers, two “lunatics” and “deviant”) are included, as well as the decision had already been taken to close it remained a symbol of oppression the monarchy, and therefore, the attack came to be regarded then as a pivotal event in the French Revolution. Today, these events per year of 14 points in July, French National Day (in French: “National Day”), commonly called “Fourteen July” (“July 14”) is known.

Bastille Day events in various countries, including the United States, are major holidays in the French Quarter of San Francisco instead, and in Milwaukee, New York, Philadelphia and Seattle.

   Bastille Day is a wonderful opportunity for students from school a little more about the history of France and of France, Bastille Day and activities could be considered for courses in French, history or geography such consideration. A fun activity for Bastille Day Bastille Day playing bingo. Basically, the idea, some bingo cards off (this can be done in advance by the teacher) to print the words associated with the French Revolution and France in general. You can play the game normally bingo (with teacher acts as playmaker), but the words on the cards instead of numbers. You can also change the game, if you like – you may need, for example, the students, the importance of an issue before making their cards explain.
